Preparing our little babies.

Thursday, August 21, 2008, 2:50 am GMT +1

Now it was time for Dab and me to prepare our babies for the planting in about a week. Take it into your hands and then grab the leaves and the "body" and twist the leaves off with a soft swing. This is not as hard as it looks by the way. You might try to wear gloves if it is much too pricky.

You should have these two parts now. If not, please be sure you made a major mistake and might need a new pineapple. But don't panic, the chances for such a fault are really low I think.

On the bottom of the leaves there should be a little, umm, hump? If that was not a word that would describe what you see in the picture, then excuse my sucky english and the dictionary I got this word from :)

What you have to do now is to cautiously pick the little brown leaves right next to the hump, so you get a little longer stem. One or two layers should be enough, but you can decide that yourself.

Now your little baby is ready prepared to go sleep into a dark, lonely place, like your cupboard or any drawer, or any other place with no light and not much heat, so the cute little stem can dry a little to prevent rotting. I chose the shelf with my pots :O
Yes, I pity my baby a lot that it has to stay there all alone for so long :(

Good night, Dabapple!
